WHERE THE SINNERS ARE WINNERS

Las Vegas is an amazingly ostentatious city whose excesses embody the freedom of action and unbridled capitalism that has come to represent America, for better or worse.
In my work, Where the Sinners are Winners, I try to go beyond the mythical pop cultural portrayal of Las Vegas to explore the glittering, smoke, and fantasy filled city’s true nature. Photographing in and around the famous Las Vegas strip, myimages reflect the business of sex, gluttony, popular culture, and nostalgia that fuels the faltering Las Vegas economy. Something like an American Id emerges from these images of a city built to capitalize on our most basic desires and impulses, but also unable to control itself.
